As many of you know, the community section of the Help-Portrait website is powered by Ning, a white-label social networking platform. As we've begun to plan the 2010 event, we're encountering some serious drawbacks to this platform and have begun looking for alternative solutions. As a result, we wanted to give you fair warning that this area will be changing in the next few months as we get ready for the 2010 Help-Portrait season. The good news is, our new platform will import everything that e…

I am passionate about photography and also have a small charity to help orphaned kids in Ukraine.
During my visit to my hometown in Ukraine, my farther and I visited Nikolaev orphanage and took portraits for children there. Children were surprised and very happy by this gesture, and I must say I would not think of this great idea if not for Help Portrait!

What an absolutely incredible job the Tampa teams did. The day was a complete success. The Tampa groups took over 175 portraits
The Tampa General Team reported a GREAT day. It was emotionally trying at times as they worked with some terminal patients and their families, but what an awesome opportunity and service!
A word from Team Leader Chuck Levin;
In a nutshell, the event was a great success. We took photos of all types of patients. One was done in a special room, the others in the conferen…

UPDATE:
We now WOULD like for you to say "Help-Portrait Is..." before you complete the sentence. Sorry for the change. We can edit as we need to but it's good to have too much instead of too little.
Also, if you've already filmed or submitted your video, no worries. No need to do it again. As long as the rest of you say the full sentence... THANKS!
Another change: We DO need to know if you're participating to get an idea of how many submissions we'll have. So please leave us a comment below!…

This was single handedly the most beautiful thing I've ever been a part of.
I had tried to get a few other local photogs on board, with no success but charged forward solo anyways. I am so HAPPY I did.
I contacted the local women's shelter and asked one of the staff if they could choose 5 families (single mothers with children) that would benefit from this project. It was not only wonderful to make the women feel beautiful... it was IMMENSELY gratifying to watch the children feel special. We di…

As the 12/12/09 event comes to a close, we can't thank you enough. We've been blown away the experiences we read about and can't wait to hear more!

What an AMAZING day! It was a pleasure working with everyone at our event, I can't think of a better group to share this experience with.
I heard nothing but great comments from every "client" that I spoke with. From entry to exit, our team made these people feel special and I believe that each of them touched someone's lives in a positive manner - that was what this event was all about.
Just a couple of quotes from today:
"This is great, I haven't been able to have a picture made in over 15…

An organizer of a local church lunch program asked if I would be interested in taking some photos of the people who come for the lunches. The idea was that they could use the prints as Christmas cards. I thought it was a great idea.
A few days later I stumbled across the Help Portrait site. At the time I wasn't really planning to log in or join. Mine was going to be a pretty modest setup in the church lunch room taking snapshots of people as they gathered and ate. It didn't seem like that big o…

Hey guys, my name is Sean Wrench. I'm the founder of the Forsaken Generation Youth Homeless Project (
www.forsakengeneration.com). We are honored to be a part of this event. I just wanted to encourage everyone to keep this going. I know the premise to this is it's only a 1 day event. Which does make it easier to get people to help, but I encourage you to keep the momentum going. Our organization has already decided to do this event for Valentine's D…

This is how it starts. This is how one-person can make a difference. One person -- and then hordes of others!
My dear colleague,
Royce Rumsey, sent a casual email around to a few of his compatriots. I am thankful that I am on such a list!
Royce mentioned the work of Help-Portrait (which I had just heard about a week ago). So it registered again. That must mean something, I thought. And I kept thinking of how we could best deploy this co…

I have seen this come up on the boards often:
"We're not a 501c- so they wont help"
Not all organizations qualify for the 501 c charitable organization, there are a TON of charities which are not 501's- schools for example are not charities and they get donations....Im not a 501 c and I get donations!
I own a web based online store and I get hit up HOURLY for donations. Everyone does- you have to keep that in mind when you "pitch" this. Companies are not just entities- they are people.…
