EVENT CANCELLED: Nov. 9th, 2011 - I hate to announce that we have failed to get enough funding in order to make this years Help-Portrait event happen. We had booked a school gym and have had great support from the photography community, but unfortunately we were not able to get enough donations to make this happen. Reston Help-Portrait Event

UPDATE: NOV. 23I not sure where the disconnect happened but I just received word that now Ritz would be charging us $1.78 per 5x7 print to have their printer on site. We were expecting up to 200+ at this Reston event and so $300-$400 was not part of what I planned and certainly not what the charity was told.So as a result Reston Interfaith and myself agreed it would be much better to cancel this event due to the last minute changes. hi, sorry to hear that you even was canceled. I realize Fauquier is a little south of you but we are in need of photographers and support (Warrenton Help-Portrait). I have the location and I have a printer backing us to print as many photos as we want to hand out. Each session will be 30-45 minutes per family. If you and your team that you assembled would consider coming down this way I would love the help.

Lee - I have talked with Mandy Gurnsey at Reston interfaith. She is hot on the idea but wants more specifics as to what we will be asking them to do. I told her that we need their help in getting the word out to the community that we are trying to serve as well as provide a space for it to take place. We had a very preliminary talk. I will be out of town next week so I will giver you her number (571.323.9565). I indicated that you would be getting in touch to talk more.

I am unclear on how we identify make up or hair dresser people, companies to do the printing and framing, and other whom we might need. Might the folks who did it last year have a stable of people we can call upon? Obviously, getting photographers isn't going to be the problem.

Hello Lee - No I haven't approached Reston Interfaith yet. I am new to this group this year and was hoping that I could team up with someone or a group of people who know the process and the "ins and outs" of organizing the event before committing to Reston Interfaith. If you are that person, I'd be happy to work with you to get this going.
