yes the 31st @ 3pm is fine with me. 3 families are fine as well, just might take a little longer ;) I'm emailing you from jenn@jenniferjones.ca.
Thanks and look forward to meeting you Sunday.
I'm in for whatever everyone else is doing. I think a couple families each works great and regarding prints i'll follow the rest of the photographers regarding the # of prints in the package. It would make sense if every family gets the same amount of prints so maybe it would be worth our time to make up a couple package options ahead of time. Some people might be more about larger prints while others might like to hand them out to family and friends.
I'm happy to cover the costs of the prints for the people that I photograph. It sounds like a few people that want to work on this project have some connections for cheaper prints which would be great, but I'm happy to hold up that side of this agreement no matter how it works out.
I have a great photographer and friend joining me (we have a side wedding business together http://www.photonarratives.ca ). Regarding proofs/printing i normally do a web gallery of proofs. I have my own printer and would be happy to do a package for them at no cost (maybe 8x10 some 5x7's and a couple sheets of wallets). I can then do my cost for additional prints.
hmm, from what i understand this is a gratis thing completely, so if any shooters that are domating their time, they're also donating prints too. I have a few contacts to get them done really inexpensively, so i'm not bothered at all in covering the cost.
I just realized I posted my response on my own wall!
That sounds great, and I'm definitely in. The timing is just fine for me, so let me know the details when we get a little closer. Thanks for contacting me, I'm really looking forward to it.
I'm not sure how many photographers would be ideal, maybe 5 at the most to give people an opportunity to participate without it being overwhelming?
Hello!
Thanks again for the wonderful interest in this day, the women are very excited and very grateful to have this opportunity. I have the privilege to work at this shelter providing medical care as their family doctor while they are there. They are an amazingly strong group of women who have left extremely difficult situations of abuse and show such spirit and determination to keep themselves and their children safe.
Often, they have never had any photos done of themselves or of their families- and given that this is a time of change and it has taken an inordinate amount of strength to restart their lives so to speak, I feel that photographs of their new start will help them greatly and give them something to be proud of. Also, having some photos of their children to look back on will be so wonderful for them as they cannot afford to have this as they usually have very limited resources. We have approx. 8-10 women with 15-20 children at the shelter who would be participating.
Here are the details, please let me know if you would be available and any suggestions for making this day as positive and fun for the women and kids as possible!
What: Pamper/Photo day for Women and children at Womens' Habitat of Etobicoke Shelter
When: SundayJanuary 31, 2009
A professional hairdresser is going to be doing the womens hair and styling in the morning, along with pampering in the form of make-up and nails/massage by my group of friends/volunteers. The kids are going to be taken care of by some volunteer friends with activities and games.
I was thinking that we could have the photo session in the afternoon around 2 or 3 pm. Let me know what you all think about the number of photographers that would be a good number and if the start time for photos is ok - we could push it up to 2pm if that's better?
Thanks so much, looking forward to chatting and planning further!
