Matt Brennan has not received any gifts yet
I was raised and currently live in Pitt Meadows, British Columbia. During my high school years, I wanted to see life in a new perspective. After loading my first roll of film in my mom’s Ricoh XR-P camera, a spark was ignited and this was the start to my photographic journey.
As time passed, I met my beautiful wife, got married, and became a dad a few years later. When my daughter was born, I felt there was a need to capture every defining moment of her life. Due to the busy schedule prior to her birth, I had put my photography on hold.
Immediately after picking up a camera again, I wanted to learn all about film, the techniques, what makes a good photograph, and just how to capture that right moment. The passion was ignited again and I was looking forward to the next big step and challenge. After shooting film for 8 months, it was time to move onto a digital SLR because the cost of developing film became too much. I don’t regret shooting film from the start; I actually believe that is the right and only way to learn photography. Rather than take 100 shots in hoping for a few good ones with a digital camera, I would take 1 and know what I was getting based my vision for the initial photograph.
Throughout the day, I find myself looking for different angles and perspectives on how to view the everyday subjects. For me, building a relationship between the subject is one of the key elements to making a great photograph regardless the type of shoot it is. As time passes by, I not only want to capture it but also cherish every moment of it as I try to live my life to the fullest every day. With my photography, I want to take risks, challenge myself, and most of all, just be curious.
In the month April, with all the encouragement from family and friends, Matt Brennan Photography was officially established. Even though my portfolio and commercial stock photography (www.istock.com) was created prior to this move, this was right to take for the next big step as far as my photography went. Being an after hours business, I find this gives my clients the freedom to work with me without the pressure of missing work and/or the busy scheduled events in our lives.
