Okay, I just found out about this cause and I simply thinks it an awesome idea. I've read a few post. I don't completely agree about the Injet printer not being archieval -I know many professional photogrphaer swho deliver ink jet images to their clients and they are good for about 100 years - how archival do you want them to be? Not to mention the immediate "feel good" effect of delvering them right away. That also seems to be what I saw in the video.
Anyway about my entery line - who is going to take the reins and get this thing going?
All we really need is a building with heat and electricity that is convenient to the people we want tophotograph to start with. I'm sure we can find enough photographers to participate in this thing that can being backdrops (paper is probable esiest and most durable) , lights and cameras and to donate their time and skill to photograph those in need. But we need a place and time so we ccan get it on our calenders. I have several photographer friends whoI KNOW i can get on board with this but we need some concrete details soon :)

Well part of it depends on who we are going to help. If we're getting kids/families from CHKD we're probably not going to be able to get some place out of the hospital. So that's why we're trying to figure out who we want to help. Then we will know if we just need to show up there or what.

I however do agree with you if we had some good quality printers on location we would be able to do some quick edits on a computer and print a photo right there. I like that idea.
Here's what I see so far:

It looks like Samaritan House has far more mentions as a pick than any other cause we've discussed so far. I'd say we move forward with them and start focusing our attention on making that happen.

As for doing the prints right there on ink....not really my preferred method of delivery but there *is* something to be said for the instant gratification that would give to them....if someone is willing to do the edits and essentially become a print shop right there on site I don't see a problem with it. We could maybe pool some money together to pay for ink and paper for the person who's bringing the gear. Do the shoot, get the card to the printer, toss another card in the camera, shoot, get card to printer....etc.....

And your subject line - Michael started the group and I'm deferring to him as group leader. However, when I got here I saw a bit of a lack of activity and a lot of setup and questions that hadn't really happened (generally things that I like to get nailed down when I first jump onto a project) so I started some discussions. Never really meant for any of it to generate a question as to who is leading the group.....I'm just super super anal when it comes to organization and having a picture of what's going on.

That said - I think we have a good idea of who we're going to help. Michael....might be a good idea to set up a group meeting to work out the details of a Samaritan House shoot.................
Again, I am available for meetings on weekdays before 5pm anywhere in the 7 cities. Any other times/days with some advance notice. I am happy to log notes for the group, write any proposals, make the calls or anything else that needs "doing" to get things progressing.

We also need to keep in mind with Holidays fast approaching that we will lose time to that when dealing with organizations that have pre-planned activities and closings. We will at least need a who, a what and a how completed to propose to the organization before deciding on a when and a where;)
