I am very interested in participating in the 2011 event here in Hampton Roads.  Can anyone tell me if there are plans in the works for our area?  I would love to add my name to the list if there is such a thing happening...If not...then I will humbly stumble along and organize it myself.  I have no clue how to go about it, but have not been as moved as I was watching the 2011 video.  What a great way to love on people and to make them feel special!  I am just an amateur photographer, and just starting out, but can point and shoot a camera.  Please send a message back if there's something already being planned that I can't seem to find on here.  Otherwise, I'll move forward with planning.  Thanks!!

There is a current group. Carl Anderson has seemingly taken the lead on this years project.

Here is his latest note:

I set up a Facebook group for our event at: http://www.facebook.com/groups/285489684808466/ . This will be where news, information, etc. will be posted this year. If you are planning on being a part of HP 2011, please join this group.

Our first planning meeting will be Monday, October 24th at 7:00pm. We will meet at the Broadcast Church office, the location of the event in December. The address is 1421 Kempsville Road in Chesapeake.

As organizer of last years HR event, and one of the organizers of the intial HR movement I can tell you that no one person can tackle a substantial sized event alone - but a group effort is validating and worthwhile if you have the time to dedicate to it.

Best of luck

Kristine

Thank you so much for your response!

I did end up making contact with Carl, but have chosen to create an event for Portsmouth, which is where my church is, and the community I have a heart to serve.  Even if we have a small event this year, that's o.k.

It does seem a bit overwhelming, but I am willing to be overwhelmed if it means learning fro this year and reaching this community.  There has been some positive feedback from the Facebook Page I set up, and hopefully we will get the volunteers and donations needed to serve 50-75 families.

thanks again for the information!
