Comment by Gabrielle Brown-Wing on December 6, 2011 at 2:19pm Hi there,
I am not available to volunteer on Saturday, but I see by Mr. Marshburn's post below mine that the La Clinica site still needs some supplies. I have a surplus of fabric scraps, stickers, constrcution paper, etc.-- could you use any of it? I can drop it off early on Saturday.
Comment by Todd Marshburn on December 6, 2011 at 4:28am A quick update on La Clinica (Oakland) top needs with 5 days to go. We're looking forward to seeing everyone on Saturday.
1. On-site printer: We'd need to find one or two printers to have on-site that can print 5x7 or 4x6 portraits.
2. Make-up Artists
3. CDs/DVDs
4. Creative supplies
Volunteer Roles: Volunteer signup: http://bit.ly/swMYgw
- Make-up Artists
- Runners (lead subjects through the process)
- Lightroom users/experts
- Creative table (morning)
Comment by Barbara Yasuhara on December 3, 2011 at 11:31am Hi everybody!! Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving! I myself had a wonderful one!
I've been quiet for a few days since last Monday my surgical procedures began at Stanford. I had my surgery then on Tuesday and was home by Thursday! Gotta love those lasers!
Anyways I am home recovering and it's time to get BUSY!!! We still have lots of spots to fill up on the sign up and at this time I would like if everyone can take a peek and see where and what they can contribute with. If you are not available, perhaps you know some aspiring photographers, or volunteers who might want to get involved?
We currently are still seeking a Creative Area Leader (this are is the tables where the kids will make artistic frames for their pictures and where they can write on their prints as well). There are a few volunteers that will be provided for this area as well.
The other position which needs to be filled is the Printing Area Leader. Joey Chandler and I are still trying to get more printers, hang in there.
As for all of you who have asked for more photo booths, because I know we will need them.....Josh will be adding the last two additional booths SOON! If he hasn't already. We just wanted to make sure folks signed up for the other positions which are JUST as important.
Remember, this agency serves hundreds of people daily and I have no doubt we will have 300+ persons showing up, let's get busy!
There has also been a lot of confusion about the agency we are serving, but to clarify it now it is the Berkeley Food & Housing Project. So, it's not just women, there will be men and families served as well since this agency also has women's homes as well as men's homes, and again, whomever is served at the dining room for free meals.
I will be organizing a Skype meeting with all my team leaders and they will be in touch with their teams. We have so much to do and so little time.
If YOU have any ideas please please please share, anything to make this happen is a great thing, and I could use the support!
Thanks again for making December 10th a little bit brighter for some less than fortunate families. YOU ROCK!!!!

Comment by Andrew Yoo on October 25, 2011 at 11:17pm This was sent out to the SF group, Anyone want to take on Oakland or Berkeley?
A message from Joey Chandler to all members of San Francisco Bay Area on Help-Portrait Community!
Good Afternoon,
So I sent an email out to a group of non-profit workers and with a few days we now have the 3 SF, a Berkeley and an Oakland organization asking to host an HP event.
In the past our biggest problem was too many photographers so I'm sort of liking this problem. But one question - Is there anyone (or teams of anyones) that would like to take on leading some of these spots? We need a leader for Berkeley and one spot in SF. That would allow us to serve a ton of people across the bay. Will take a little extra work of course but I have to imagine it will be worth it.
If you are, let me know. I'm meeting with St. Vincent’s DePaul on Wednesday and will have more details after that.
