Hi,

I just joined and am interested in creating a team to take portraits of homeless/low income people in San Francisco. I've done some charity work for a couple of organizations in the city so I have a few contacts already and think I may be able to find a space to shoot in. Is anyone interested in joining me?

Thanks,
Melissa

great, what areas were you thinking?
Hey Melissa,

I'd like to join you. A space is a great start. I'm a photographer and would be happy to try and research a space as well.
I was going to see about asking my church to use their gym, in the Mission District.

I don't have anything to print with, but I have some small strobes, pocket wizards, and shoot-through umbrellas. I will ask a friend of my wife if she is interested in volunteering for make up work. I am in the East Bay (Antioch) and may end up joining a nearer group if there is one before then.
I have some gear. 1 monolight, 1 ringflash, background stand, roll of seamless white, a few muslins (black, white, blue starburst, gold starburst and a purpleish one) and 3 pocket wizards. Does anyone think Calumet Photo would donate some gear?
Asking for donations from Calumet, or perhaps Photo Supply (another rental/photo supply near Rayko/SoMA) is a great idea. What kind of supplies do you think we could suggest?

this sounds likea great idea..I'm on way to Costco to see if they can donate prints, etc.
Awesome idea about Costco... let us know how it worked out. I sent messages out to Photoworks SF on Market St and WHCC for prints also.

went to Costco in Foster City -- spoke with Marketing manager, he say's he will get back to me in a few days...I think part of the problem we might face is -- we need a Charity ID, the form we currently have isn't enough. The Costco guy was a bit taken when I said we don't have a Charitable ID..so hmmmm..thoughts anyone?
just give the prints. For the homeless portraits small is better. They can carry them more easily and take better care of them easier. Get a epson 4x6 printer, and the prints are cost of less than 30 cents each. Just donate our money. If each person donates the five to fifteen bucks they normal give to homeless people to this instead we have our funding :)

and, I am in any time, keep me uptodate on this project !
