To all who took part in today's event, I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did. The teamwork, the energy, the ability to produce so many portraits in the space and time that we had, it was all just so neat. I do hope we came up with some good…Continue

Hey guys, one little snag may have come up that we need to brainstorm. I had originally positioned that we would deliver the pictures at a later date, which was received well by the SAMM people. Today the people at SAMM raised some possible concern…Continue

I'm very interested in participating in this years event. Have there been any plans made?

Thanks,

Robin

Is the San Antonio group going to do anything this year? I would so like to be a part of this.

The event on 12/11/10 was a big success. We had about 40 families show up, 10 makeup artists, two photographers, two assistants, and a couple of musicians even showed up for a little while to play music while we had a lunch break.

"Thank you for this experience." - Something we heard throughout the day. Not 'thank you for my picture' but thank you for this 'experience'... exactly what I'd hoped for. Mission accomplished.

Hi, I have been so disappointed that I didnt learn about this much earlier as I would of been willing to help more with getting this organized but....
I do have something that some of you might be interested in. Earlier in the posts, Melinda was requesting some help for Sunday the 5th, for Cristas Homecare. I was most interested in being there to capture this event, however my photoshoot from the am, had to re-schedule for the afternoon and I must be available for the shoot. The gal from Cristas name is Mary and I know that she would be happy to hear from any of you all that would be willing to help. If you would like contact info or any additional information, let me know and I will be happy to forward Mary's info. to you.

Unfortunately, being new to the area, I don't have any contacts or leads. :-( I think a nursing home would be great, esp. if we could get help with hair and make-up. But I'm concerned about trying to schedule much this late in the game with everyone's crazy holiday schedules. I really wish Help-Portrait wasn't in December!

Stacy, I agree that we aren't going to make it for the 4th. Just today I got a response from my contact at Haven for Hope and he said they have 7 different Christmas events coming up in December that we might be able to work into. I've asked him for more specific info on dates and what type of events they are having and how taking portraits might fit into what they are already doing. I'll keep you guys updated.
If anyone else has any leads or has the time to organize something, Please Do! I've also had several people mention an interest in going to a Nursing Home or something along those lines. Anyone have any contacts or interest in trying to set that up?

Since it's only 4 days away, I'm assuming we aren't going to participate this year?

So...as Walt put it, we have at least critical mass for H-P day, 12/4/10. From the sounds of it, we don't have a place lined up for us to "do our thing" - can we gather a list of places we've asked and answers (if any) we've received? Should we as a group offer to do an event at Christus Homecare on 12/5, in order to at least help out at a viable event?

How about checking with Community in Schools. They service under privileged families in all the school districts of San Antonio.

GREAT Debbi - Thanks!! I will pass your email along.
