Help-Portrait CFL 2011 Multi-City Sites Rundown

So you’ve been wondering about our collective efforts this year? Here is a basic rundown of our collaborations in throughout the Central Florida region in 2011.

ORLANDO // DEC 10 [8am-5pm]

Coalition for the Homeless of Central Florida (Main Campus)

The largest provider of homeless services in Central Florida, CHCF’s mission is to “address the needs of the homeless in our community and to serve as a catalyst for community collaboration to end homelessness.” The Coalition is currently able to help approximately 700 people each day, including men, women and children.

WINTER PARK // DEC 10 [6pm-8pm]

B.A.S.E. Camp (Christmas Event)

B.A.S.E. Camp “provides a year-round base of support for children and families who are facing the challenge of living with cancer and other life-threatening hematological illnesses.” What makes them unique is that they not only serve the children who are patients, but also their siblings.

Every year, the BASE Camp team throws a grand Christmas party for those they serve; allowing families and children the opportunity to see each other outside of the hospital. Friendships are celebrated and nurtured, gifts are distributed, and surely enough, where there are gifts, Santa may be also.

KISSIMMEE // DEC 10 [Day Event; Exact Time to be Determined Next Week]

Gateway High School

The mission of Gateway High School is to “enhance the students' academic, artistic, social, and technological skills to meet the challenges of a rapidly changing and increasingly diverse society.” For some time we’ve wanted to bring Help-Portrait to the education sector, and it is with this exemplary and diverse school we’re hoping to accomplish this goal and bring about a model that can be translated in other parts of our country and world. OVIEDO // DEC 17 [11am-4pm]

HOPE Helps (“Christmas in the City” Event)

Formerly known as HOPE Foundation, HOPE Helps provides a multitude of resources, programs and support services to individuals and families in crisis. Their mission is to prevent and reduce homelessness in Central Florida by equipping individuals and families to become self-sufficient through Housing, Outreach, Prevention, and Education.

Each year the HOPE conducts its annual "Christmas in the City" event.  Last year, through this event, HOPE Helps provided Christmas dinners to hundreds of families, distributed gifts for children, gift cards for teenagers, and supplied other essential items, such as shoes and books for those in attendance. As Help-Portrait, we enhanced their efforts by providing 1,000 portraits to families served at this event, and capturing moments that will last a lifetime.
