The 17th meeting place sounds good. I do not really know where it is but I will find it I'm sure. We should prolly just meet on the 17th, there is not that many of us that we need to worry about there being too many people. I know about the Littlest Heroes Project and if Felicia mentions that she is still doing it then I want to help in that as well. I wanted to help with it when I was in Louisiana but was unable to due to family issues at the time. Still can not wait!!

My daughter has a volleyball game from 6:30 to 7:30 on Tuesday, so that wouldn't work well for me. Sorry!

Would it be possible for you girls to meet this Tuesday, Oct 6th, about 6:30ish as a "planning meeting" for the planning meeting? ;) We could try meeting downtown at Blue Line again, or maybe Scooters at 63rd and Center. Let me know if that works....I plan on being back to full speed by then! ;)

For a meeting space on October 17, if we do it in the afternoon, we can use an ITT Tech room. It would have plenty of space and also have a laptop and projector so we could show the video and possibly a slide presentation with our thoughts about possible projects. ITT is located on the south side of L St. and west of 96th. There would be plenty of parking too. Let me know what you girls think. It's fairly centrally located and not too far from the interstate.

Tammy, I like how you think! Someone to organize all the info would be awesome! ;)
Sorry if I wasn't clear in my last post - I'm still a little drugged up on flu meds!
I totally agree, I want to make this as big as possible! I would love to see a bunch of groups go out to different places. I think what I was trying to bring up earlier was just the difference between Help-Portrait being a one day event, and other organizations that don't have a specific 'date'.
The organization that I was thinking of earlier does exactly what we're talking about with the Children's Hospital idea but on an on-going basis. The Littlest Heroes Project connects photographers who want to donate their time/services with families with children with severe illnesses. I just looked them up again, and the website is not up anymore, but the flickr information is still there. I'm going to write to Felicia, the girl who started it, and see if they're still going. If not, we could totally start something like that here! ;)
Again, I'm stoked that I'm not the only one getting excited and dreaming big!
Thanks, girls, you've been a total encouragement to me as I'm home sick!

I want to do the Children's hospital like Kim posted on Fb. I thought we were in for getting a base together and then organizing a few more events the same day and sending out other photogs to do those events. I want to make this more of a city wide thing.....make it something bigger then anyone else would so more photogs, hair stylists, caterers, etc., can be involved. I have a feeling we could make this something fantastic! Jamie, we will keep you in the loop....
I have someone to take all of the info we come up with (notes, contact info., phone numbers, addresses, etc) and type it out and make it all organized so we can pass out the info we have to others when need be.

Hey, gals! I'm so excited to see you girls excited about this! ;) Awesome!
A couple of things:
It looks like I'm not going to AZ (my mom has health issues, and she's afraid to be around me if I'm still at all sick!) so my possible meeting times just opened up again!
I have a couple of contacts at the Omaha Chamber, and in general most of my contacts are in Omaha, so I'll be working on that end.

Kim - I LOVE the info that you posted! I have a couple of thoughts on that, too. I think for the purpose of this event, we should maybe keep it to the one day. With UNMC/Ronald McDonald house, I was thinking of having the event at one of those places for those families who are able to attend, knowing that not all families would be able to.
For those who could not attend an event: Hopefully we have a ton of volunteers, and maybe there would be one photog who would really want to travel around on that same day and go to a few houses. We could figure that out in the meeting. OR if there are people who would want to continue doing something like this into the future, there is an organization that I really want to work with that would be an ideal way to work on that. I have to find the address, but I'll post it as soon as I find it again ;) Soooooo many things that I want to be involved with, and so little time! ;)

I forgot to mention that I found a few options for us for a meeting place for our larger meeting on Oct. 17, I am waiting to hear about the availability of ITT Tech at 96th & L St., which is the most centrally located space. Others we can use are the La Vista Community Center near 84th & Harrison, Trinity United Methodist Church near 84th & Q, Hy Vee at Hwy 370 & 72 (if we do it in the afternoon), or Microtel Inn & Suites at Hwy 370 near the Kennedy Freeway. Because the Chamber of Commerce I work at is in La Vista, most of my free meeting spaces are going to be on the southern end of town.
