EVENT CANCELLED: Nov. 9th, 2011 - I hate to announce that we have failed to get enough funding in order to make this years Help-Portrait event happen. We had booked a school gym and have had great support from the photography community, but unfortunately we were not able to get enough donations to make this happen. For example the school gym was $500 not including the cost of printing.

I encourage each of you to find another venue where you can contribute. Help-Portrait is worthly endevor for each of us to partispate in.

Thank you for everyone who stepped up to volunteer for this event !

==============

We had our first meeting today with a charity in Reston regarding this years (2011) event. We are working on logistics, a location, sponsors and a number of other issues. But I would like to start a thread to see how many photographers are interested in participating in this years Reston Help-Portrait event.

Please let me know how you would like to be involved.

Area of Support

  1. Photographer
  2. Make up Artist
  3. Hair Stylist
  4. Digital Tech (support image capture, printing, Lightroom/Aperture, etc)
  5. Volunteer
  6. Photographers assistant

If are a photographer and have studio lighting please list any resources/equipment that you could provide.

We currently are planning for a 10:00 to 4:00 pm day. If you are only available morning or afternoon please let us know.

Hi there! I am a photographer and have studio lighting.

1. Ranger Quadra (2 lights)

2. BXRI500 (two lights)

3. Assorted Elinchrom softboxes

4. light stands (includes to boom stands)

5. Backdrop stand

I'm not clear on the date but I would be happy to make a day of it. Also if the dates work out I also know a MUA that would volunteer their time.

Thanks,

Tim

Tim - Thanks for signing up.  Would you please send me your email address.  And, sorry but I don't know what an MUA is?  Lee Love is organizing the photographers and I am working with the other volunteers so, yes I would like to have that contact.

Thanks - Richard Eckhardt

Hi Richard! Oooppppss Sorry MUA is short for Make Up Artist Not 100% sure about my MUA friend at this point. But my info is timothyjgonzalez@gmail.com

As soon as I firm things up with her I will send her contact info.

Thanks,

Tim

Oh and I do image retouching as well.

I do, too :-)

Hey I am intrested in helping out! Who is heading this up? Love to have more info! Thatphotoguyjon@yahoo.com
My volunteer's email address is JJONES413@YAHOO.COM. His name is Justin.

Hi,  I would like to be a part of this as a photographer if needed or as a PA.

I have 3 Alien Bees 1600 strobes, 2 Vagabond power packs, beauty dish and several softboxes.

I can be reached at sonlt@hotmail.com

Thanks

I should mention that the plan is to give everyone a chance to shoot that wants to. Ideally we would have 4-6 studios that will be setup all day. We can rotate through and take turns so hopefully as many people that would like to shoot will get the opportunity.

Right now the we are trying to figure out how to handle printing. I don't want to wear out anyones personal printer but if we are only printing 300-350 images between 3 or 4 printers then this shouldn't be an issue.

As a backup plan... how many people could provide a printer that will do 5x7's ?

And if so what model/make ?

Obviously if we could find even 2 or 3 of the same make and model then providing ink and color calbration would be alot easier. :)

Open to suggestions on printing solutions.

I have an Epson printer if needed as well.... I'm happy to photograph and/or edit.....

Hi. I am a photographer and I would love to help, as well. I can probably help all day. I do not have any lighting equipment, but can bring my own camera(s), tripod, and a compact HP photo printer. It is capable of printing 5 x 7. I can also bring my laptop, equipped with Photoshop CS3 and Photoshop Elements, as well as the portrait professional software for touching up/editing portraits quickly and flawlessly. I live in Centreville, VA. My e-mail address is melissa@melissawinn.net

Thanks!

Melissa this would be great and no worries about the lights. I have enough for at least two studios. Just having your willingness to help is great. As get closer I will let contact you.
