Well, so far, every year I've tried to do this, this event gets canceled for this specific location. I think we should try consulting group members for alternate solutions. We're all artists, therefore we're really inventive and creative and with the connections in the NOVA area, we are bound to figure something out. :) There are tons of shelters who would probably be willing to invite some of us there to do the portraits.

I'm going to look into Sterling and Leesburg. Members of this group are more than welcome to join me on the venture. If we can't work anything out by then, so be it. But I really want to be photographing somebody in need (in this area) on December 10th. :)) ...

Let me know what assistance you need... I will send an e-mail to the Loudoun Photo Club about this event.  Thanks!

Lindsay, I have done events the last 2 years in DC and have signed up for the one organized by Raymond Henderson. However, there have been no recent updates by him and he recently posted about an event on Dec.2, so I am open to trying to form another group. I believe it can be done in the time we have if we start this week. Please let me know if you have further interest.

Is the December 2 event not happening in Alexandria?

I just signed up for H-P and was bummed to see the Reston event cancelled. Looking around the region, the Gaithersburg, MD event seems to have a willing shelter lined up and only has 2 or 3 photographers/volunteers on board at this point. I plan on heading up there if I can get my schedule straightened out for the 10th. If a Sterling/Leesburg event doesn't come together consider driving a bit north to help out!

Grr. I just discovered the Reston one was canceled. I've got a set of Einstein strobe's, modifiers, backdrop stands, lightstands, and an iMac all wanting to be involved in something on the 10th.

Ohh boo! We wanted to do the Reston event as well. Do we know why it was canceled?

The organizer cancelled due to lack of funding, 2nd year in a row that he's cancelled for that reason.

UPDATE: Made the offer to LAWS (Loudoun Abused Women's Shelter). Waiting for a reply since Tuesday. Will follow up on Tuesday this week.

Any status?  I might be able to get some resources to make it happen.  Thanks!

Still waiting. Whatever you can do, will help! It's literally a scramble now.

Lindsay,

I have a friend that knows someone who is in charge over there. Do you want me to see if I can help contact them?

 if so please email me
tmmorin72@comcast.net

I was just going to write her to do something for the shelter but if a unch want to that would be great.

UPDATE: Sorry my response has been foggy! :( I'm still waiting...but I'm feeling hopeful. Any help I can get in terms of contact or people you know there or ahead of the organization would be phenomenal! :) Just shoot me an email and let me know what you will want to do (in preparation or on the day of). Even if the plans aren't completely together yet, I just want to compose a list of people and what they would want to do while helping out. If somebody has additional equipment---awesome. In terms of printing, my plan was to simply use my company that I print from and pay for the prints myself. One size for everyone (5x7) and they're no more than $1 and some change. If you all wanted to contribute that's fine, but it's definitely not required so please don't feel any pressure. I'm just trying to make this easy since it was a last minute scramble. --Obviously next year we will have this worked out way in advance lol.
