I have confirmed that the Lisner Home (a nursing home for low-income D.C. residents) definitely wants to have us come photograph their residents. They are in the process of figuring out the time, no. of residents who might want photos, etc. When I get that information, I will post it and ask for a specific no. of volunteers and what else would be needed. My initial guess is that it would work best for 3-5 people to go there.

Details on the Lisner shoot:
I need 2-3 other photographers (or others who want to assist) to help with this shoot. Date: Dec. 12th. Location: Lisner Home, 5425 Western Ave (NW D.C.), time: 12:30 to about 3:00. We'll be taking portraits of the residents (low-income nursing home) in a light-filled solarium. No need for special equipment other than a fast lens, since we will be shooting in natural light.
Can you give me a little more info about this opportunity and if you are still looking for people to help out. Is there an opportunity to visit residents and photograph them in their rooms? I am interested in shooting more as in a photo story.
Erin -
We've probably got enough people for the Lisner shoot (me and 2 other volunteers) since it is a fairly small place - but if you don't yet have a place to go tomorrow, you'd be welcome to come!
The session will take place in the solarium, not in the rooms. So it won't have much of a photo story feel. What I think the residents want is something pretty traditional - portraits that they can keep themselves or give to their families. So it's possible that some other location might work better for what you want to do. But if you want to come to Lisner, please reply and I'll send you where and when to go.
Thanks!
Victoria
