Hi Cameron! No need to bring anything special tonight! Just yourself!
Hi all! Stay tuned! We will post notes very soon. For now, plan on a site visit on
Sunday, December 6 at 11 am.
1417 Las Vegas Blvd North (LV Blvd/Charleston)
Details to follow!
Notes from first meeting
Help-Portrait Las Vegas 2009 – HELP of Southern Nevada's Youth Center Team
Mission: To show the homeless teens at the Center for Independent Living that they are beautiful and are not forgotten despite their circumstance and living situation. To give back by giving them a gift of a printed / electronic digital portrait of themselves to use with Social Media outlets and to give to their friends and family…and to keep for their very own.
Overview
Just as a reminder, this is a Not-for-Profit volunteer opportunity. There will be media coverage of the event and this exposure is a great way to encourage corporate donations of goods and/or services. You personally are expected to donate your time, not your money. However, a non-profit ID will be made available for anyone who chooses to make reasonable monetary investments for supplies and/or donations (see “Additional Opportunities” below).
Expecting 50 teens (who we will refer to as our clients)
Anticipating 1 ½ hours per client (hair, make-up, photo).
Goal: 10 stations each for hair/makeup and photo which means 5 clients per station.
Start at 7am for set-up, end photos by 6pm.
7am - 8am Stations set-up
8 am First round of clients enter
9 am First round of photos begins
12pm – 2pm Lunch and visiting
2pm – 6pm Start delivering first set of photos, resume stylists’ and photographers’ stations
Create highest resolution photos possible with your camera
Take still pictures during the preparation and during the shoots, for later documentation and possible inclusion as fusion with video, as well as possible gallery show.
One of our sponsors (Rich Scaglione from Airgroup) has donated the time and expenses of a film crew to cover the event. The end result will be coverage to be made available to:
HELP of Southern Nevada's Youth Center to use on their website year round to create awareness and for charity events

Volunteers to be Runners (people to shuttle pictures to/from the printer)
Volunteers to be there and talk to the kids, serve as ambassadors through the process (hair/make-up, posing, photo, waiting for picture to return).
Volunteers for clean-up crew
The Center for Independent Living website has a wishlist of supplies that the center provides to its clients. Anyone wishing to help the project, but who is not able to join the fun on 12/12 may contribute by donating against this wishlist. If you know of folks who would like to participate, you may direct them to this website, or volunteer to bring with you their donations to be made in their name. Their website: http://www.helpsonv.org/programs-youth.php On the front page, you'll see a button called "youth center wish list" - which contains some basic items that the teenagers need.
OMG Liberty you're amazing!
I contacted Gina, marketing director for HELP of Southern NV and she will meet with the film/producer 24th Production Avenue on Sunday to work on the story board and specs for the filming and producing of the event. We are meeting on Sunday at 10:30 at the District Coffee Bean and we may head over to the Center for Independent Living for a site visit too.
I spoke to my mom, Martha Jackson, and she requested a copy of the wish list the teens post on their site because she will work at providing shampoo, toothpaste etc...
I can make copies of the flyers...was someone designing these puppies? I'm moving tomorrow and unpacking this weekend however if need be, I can do it.
OH! And yes, we are able to use HELP of Southern NV to write off expenses to their non-profit number. I will be getting the form.
BIG hugs to Amy and Liberty for all their hard work!!!
