Julie's Mission

Help many children at Hope Children's Home receive a professional picture of themselves. Also, to provide them ones with their siblings. It's not often orphaned children are able to stay with their brothers and/or sisters. At Hope they are given that opportunity. Nine sets of sibling families live at the Home. Ranging from 2 to 5 siblings. The newest family is of four; their ages are 4yrs,2yrs,1yr and 4 months.

I wanted to say thank you for signing up to help these children. They are amazing. And so are the staff. There is one couple that have lived there for 35 years helping children in need...giving them…Continue

We have areas both inside and out. There's a beautiful tree, lake, cottage for outside and new playground. Inside there are a few places without need for backdrops. But, go ahead and bring them just in case. Never know if the whether is bad we might all need to be inside making the best of it. Yes, bring the prop box. I would like something creative and special for them. The amount of prints needed is growing. Think it might be best to order. But if anything changes, I will let everyone know.
Marti will be creating a slide show for them. Thank you Marti!
I might buy them a canvas of the whole group. Menaul printing is giving us a big discount for the home. Thank you Jerri!

Good morning!   I'm in.  Thanks to Marti for letting me know.

For portraits, I prefer strobist, but I can do natural light if space is at a premium.  I can bring a full-size white seamless and black fabric backdrop, and a small gray backdrop (good for individual headshots only).

If you change your mind about printing on site, I can bring my printer. Let me know so I can be sure to have enough supplies.

How about bringing our box of fun props?  Hats, oversized glasses, inflatables, etc... would that be too much?  I don't know if we're going for the standard style of school pictures and business headshots, or getting a little more creative.  I guess I can be ready for both.

Looking forward to it.

Thank you Marti! I emailed the ones you sent me that confirmed to have them join our communication board here. There are 63 children with 9 sibling group, 3 housing groups and 9 family staff groups. The staff live there with their families. The director thought it would be nice to do this for them too. They give so much of their time to the children and are on a very tight budget. Thanks everyone!

How many children/groups are there, Julie?

Julie, I would love to help you with your mission, and I'm spreading the word!

Ok I will bring what I have. It was a product issue and then customer service really just brushed me off. I didn't have a problem like this before with any of my other prints. So for the prints to come out so drastic was heartbreaking. You could barely see some kids in some of the pictures they were so dark (I do school photography).

Bring it all if you'd like. They have some pretty areas for pictures outside and inside. I have an online company that is giving the project a discount on the prints. We will have them sent to the home. I know the idea is to give the print that day but its a large group. Plus, I like to take time with processing.
I just read your blog...you were not happy with the same company... What was the issue product or delivery time?

I am a strobist. I can bring my background set up or I can bring my computer for editing. Just let me know.

You can do it! I'm so happy! This project is getting so big and am struggling to find help. So Dec 15th (you saw they can't do it the 8th, right?) Just bring your gear. Are you a strobist or natural light photographer? That way I know which area to put you in. I've been so worried about raising money to contribute to the holiday gifts for the children that I haven't thought of food for the photographers. Just make sure you have food and drink for yourself. I'm at julie.swink@gmail.com. You can see their website at hopechildrenshome.org. They are not state or federal funded only by donations. An amazing place
Thank you so much
