I spoke with the GM at Precision Camera. They have graciously donated the use of two three light set-ups from their rental department for the day.

I don't know if there is a list of volunteers or if there is a list as to who has it but I would like to go ahead and take myself off the photographers list. I would like to move my name to the photographers assistants list, general volunteer and behind-the-scenes. Even as an amateur photographer for numerous years, I always left my camera on the little green square and let the camera do it's thing. Well now that I am in school studying photography, it shows how much I depended on it and how my skills in doing the work myself is not good enough to take pics of those we are helping out. I have done a few behind the scenes shoots that have produced good material which is why I figured to use my skills in that aspect instead.

Hi Everyone,
I'm actually coordinating the volunteers for the event. Marisa, it is a one day/location event, but we will need volunteers for the day of the event and for planning. We are trying to get a website established to coordinate the volunteers, but for now people can contact me and let me know how you would like to assist (day of/planning/both) and I'll get it organized.

Help. How do I find the "pages" about the plan for Portrait Day? When I went to the main website and entered Austin for a location there were no results.

Update:

Caritas of Austin is on-board as the primary charity for the event. They will be helping us identify folks in need and help us coordinate with other charities, as well.

I have put up a Google group to plan Austin's contribution. Check it out. We have secured the Sheraton Downtown at 11th and IH35 for the event. We will have two areas; styling and portraits. There is room for up to six portrait stations and good number of styling stations. Check out the Google group... http://groups.google.com/group/help-portrait-austin. I have also posted the plan in the form of pages on the group site.
