0 Comments 1 LikeHello to all the photographers helping out with Denver's Help Portrait!
I need to get an idea of who can help set up and tearing down the photo stations, and who will be bringing what equipment. Ideally we will setup the 5 photo stations including backgrounds, lights, light modifiers, etc. and leave them up throughout the day. The only thing that will change through the event is the photographers and their cameras at each station.
Who can bring equipment in the morning and what will you be bringing? Also who can help set up from 8:30am-10am and to break down from 4pm- 6pm? Thanks!
Also, this is a bit of a duplication of the Volunteer Time Slots, but who wants to be the first photographers to be starting off the day? I currently have Charles D and Andy J listed according to Chelsea's Volunteer Time Slot list.
I'll be bringing a backdrop stand, some light stands, umbrelllas, and canon flashes with Radio Popper radio slaves. I have a plain muslin (yellowish color) backdrop and a molted purplish backdrop I will bring. Radio slaved lights are preferable over flash slaved or cord slaved lights, but we will take what we can get.
If you do plan to bring equipment to be used whether that is as small as a memory card or as large as a backdrop, please remember to put your name (and phone number just in case) on it. The last thing we want is for something to get lost in the mix and someone to accidentally take home the wrong equipment.

Permalink Reply by Andy Johns on November 30, 2011 at 9:29am I'll be there all day, including setup and tear down. (Nikon and Vivitar Flashes, nikon specific radio triggers, 10x20ft black backdrop which can span 2 stations if needed, light modifiers and stands). It might be prudent to have anyone with rechargeable batteries bring their rechargers as well.
Permalink Reply by Mark Vassar on November 30, 2011 at 6:30pm I will be there for the entire event. I have a Canon 7D, one flash, one light stand, a couple of thumb drives. I can do whatever is needed.
Permalink Reply by James Munson on November 30, 2011 at 7:53pm I will be there all day for setup and take down. Nikon Speedlites, White Lightnings, Vagabond, triggers, stands and modifers. No background however.
Permalink Reply by Tim Norman on December 2, 2011 at 9:40pm Great Andy, Mark and James. I'll included you guys in the setup and tear down group. Please bring what ever gear you have (and make sure your name is on it). We may end up combining gear to satisfy create a station. Andy, I'll mark you down as having a background (possibly to cover 2 stations if needed). Do you have a background stand for the 10x20 or is it just the backdrop? And James I'll mark you down as having a setup for one of the stations too (minus the background).
Good idea on the battery recharges Andy. I'll bringing a couple battery rechargers and a whole bunch of rechargeable AA's. But the more that can bring them the better.
Permalink Reply by Andy Johns on December 3, 2011 at 1:47pm Just the backdrop, no dedicated backdrop stand. From the way Chelsea described the space, we may be able to tape or clamp it up. I'll bring some gaffers tape and some clamps and we'll see what we can do.
I also, I thought I had some christmas lights, but they got tossed before the move out here, so if anybody has them, bring them! If nothing else we could setup one station with a fast lens and make some nice bokeh portraits!
Permalink Reply by Tim Norman on December 3, 2011 at 2:05pm Good ideas Andy! I forgot that we might be able clamp or tape up a backdrop.
