Hi Folks –

I’m responsible for the general Greeting Staff this year, and including myself we have 6 people so far. Greeters will be responsible for the general care and

assistance of participants through the entire lifecycle of the process, from
entrance to departure. Here’s the list:

Greeting Staff:

  • Christian DeBaun
  • Lucy O’Dell
  • Jenni Lopez– Spanish Translator
  • Cecelia Charre – Spanish Translator
  • Jean Norum
We could really use 2 to 3 additional greeters, and 1 “Security” person is also
desired.

I will probably need someone out on the street to direct people to the right entrances, deal with buses that may arrive (CASA?), and manage parking. This

could be a cold (and possibly wet) job.

Please let me know if you are available to work on the Greeting Team – we could really use your help. It’s going to be a busy, but super rewarding day!

Thanks,

Christian DeBaun

I just found out I won't be available until around 1pm. Is that okay?
I can help with greeting team.
I'd love to help with the Greeting team! Please let me know what I need to do! Thanks!
Emily and I would love to help out in any way on Saturday. We'll just come and be put wherever needed if that's okay.
For those of us who have listed that we'd like to help with the Greeting team, do we just need to show up on Saturday?
Hello Greeting Team!

All of you have expressed an interest in participating as a Greeter for this year’s Help Portrait here in Charlottesville, which will take place at the Haven (112 West Market Street) this Saturday, December 4th from 12:00 noon until 8:00 pm. I thank you from the bottom of my heart, as last year’s event was fantastic and this year promises to be even better. You will have the chance to put a smile on the face of a less fortunate person, and put a smile on your own face with this generous act of kindness.

Though we are not part of the shooting team, we are the first people that our participants will meet when they walk through the door – and some of them will be shy, self-conscious, or even feeling like a “fish out of water”. Our job is to make them feel warm and welcomed, and SPECIAL as we grace them through the process. As a greeter you will be responsible for the general care and assistance of participants through the entire lifecycle of the process, from entrance to departure – and you might make a new friend!

Including myself, we have 9 people on out team – and I know that some of you may not be able to work the entire day. I will be there from 9:00 am until 9:00 pm (whole shift), but it would be great if you could choose a slot during the actual shooting hours – which are 12:00 noon to 8:00 pm. I’d love a little bit of overlap, but we need to make sure we don’t have everyone on a single shift.

If possible, please tell me which shift you can cover:

SHIFT 1: 12:00 Noon – 3:00 pm

SHIFT 2: 3:00 pm – 6:00 pm

SHIFT 3: 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm

For you “closers” on the 8:00 pm end/shift – please note that there will be some sort of “After Shoot” party – probably at South Street, so come hoist a well earned beer with us, and tuck into some tucker as they Down Under.

Again, my heartfelt thanks for your support!

Chris

Hi Christian -

How exciting! I'd love to be on the Noon until 3 pm shift - can I still stop by the After Shoot party? ;) Looking forward to it!

noon to 3pm slot is good for me. If you need some overlap time I can stay until 4 too. Is it ok if there are two of this at this time slot or do I need to pick another one?
Hi, Christian! I'm currently planning on being around pretty much the whole day (9AM-9PM). Don't know what my food shuttling duties will be exactly, but you are welcome to pull me off the bench for greeting help whenever I'm at loose ends. I'm hoping to do some shooting after 4 PM.
Awesome - thanks so much Cathy!
