Just a reminder.. we're not done folks! Packet stuffing party at the church Thursday Dec 16th. We won't need a lot of people, but all are welcome (you know.. in case you're lonely and missing us and have nothing else to do this time of year)

I'd like to take a moment to thank Bob Foss who got this whole ball rolling in the Fall of '09 by initiating meetings and creating a group here at Ning for the Capital District. Even though he couldn't join us again this year, he has graciously allowed this site to stay open under his name so that we didn't need to start from scratch with a new "group". This whole thing might never have gotten off the ground if he had not been willing to go out on a limb to take it on with no idea of how much interest or support he would get.

Bob, we missed you and hope you will be able to join us in the future to watch your "baby" grow.

You all rock! The day was great. Sorry about the 2 damaged cameras. So glad I was able to participate this year. Looking forward to next year!

My booth, #1, was tight and the people standing watching Brandon shoot, impeded traffic. It also made it troublesome for people getting in and out of my space. However, it all worked out and there were no complaints. While tight, I did enjoy myself and get the job done.

No Cynthia, it wasn't the set-up. In my case it was the fact that I was shooting tethered (a cord leading from my camera to the flash head to make it fire). I set the camera down on a table to go adjust something and my foot became tangled in the cable. In Sean's case he thinks he didn't quite get his camera mounted properly on the tripod and it slid off its mount. You're right though, that one pathway was tight.

Was there anything about our set-up that increased the chances of these camera accidents? Is there something we should keep in mind for next time? It seemed to me that the path through the middle was VERY tight. I know we didn't have much choice in our layout, but did the lack of depth for the booths contribute to any of the accidents? (I also expect that the concrete floor didn't help matters when things dropped on them)

I thought everyone heard about my D700 taking nose dive off my tripod just as the day began..yeah..damaged...powers up but none of teh controls work and the top LCD is fubared. My 70-200 is probably damaged as well, though not sure how bad...have to test it more. :( Bob's lens took a header later in the day...looks like it got run over by a truck. :/ Hope Santa is good to both of us this year..lol.

Oh no! Anything damaged?

I had a great time and everything seemed to go smoothly. Can't wait to see the final results! Now the post-processing begins...

Well...aside from Bob lens taking a nose dive to the floor and my D700 falling off my tripod, I think the event went fairly well...definite had fun and look forward to next year (albiet with less butter on my fingers).

Meeting Thursday Nov 18, 6:30 Good Ground Family Church

We will only have one more meeting after this one and that will be mere days before the event. So do try to make it out to this one. We'll be discussing important things like T-shirts and Food. (and maybe a little photography related stuff)
