1 - Dates to Remember:
Next Meeting: Thursday Oct 14 Wolf Road Diner
Probable event date - Saturday, December 4 or 11, 2010

2 - Contributions and Expenses:
The subject was raised about how we can deal with cash contributions. Remember that Help Portrait is NOT set up formally so that contributions
made might not be tax deductible. We can offer some sort of receipt and
some publicity materials to help explain to a tax professional what
Help Portrait is, but we make NO claims regarding the deductibility of
cash, goods, or service contributions. Make sure you are clear about
this to contributors. It's between them and their tax preparer to
decide.

However we WILL get cash contributions anyway (we did last year) so my suggestion of how to handle it is:
If anyone wishes to donate cash, let me know the amount. I will keep and
post a running tally of our "bank account." I will also keep track of
who has the actual money from each contribution. When there are expenses
that need to be drawn on the "fund", we will know how much we have to
work with and repay the people who front the money if they don't wish to
make the purchase as a donation.

As of this writing, our virtual "account balance" is $0
If you are willing to donate cash or have received offers from others, please let me know the amount.
Please also let me know details of all non-cash contributions made so we can do proper follow-up after the event.

3 - Beneficiary of the Event:
We are pursuing contacts with military organizations to center our event
around military families. Several people had potential leads and
hopefully we'll know more soon. ANYONE with an idea for a contact that
would work with us to set this up, please follow up on it! If we get
nowhere with this in the next week or so, we will need to move on to
another idea.

4 - Probable Location of Event:
Angela has secured permission to use her church in Cohoes for Saturday, December 4 or Sat Dec 11.
The room would be similar to last year's space including kitchen
facilities. We hope to make a field trip very soon to scope it out, and
possibly have our meeting there this week.

5 - Miscellaneous:
1) Dennis has found us a lab (Nationsphoto) that's not just willing, but EAGER to help out! Yay Dennis!

2) There are some unfortunate schedule conflicts this year for the Dec 4th date, making some of our valuable participants from last year
unavailable. So there will be a need for others to fill the gap. Please
keep talking up HP in case your friends want to join us, and spread the
word to photographers you may know. We will probably also need people to
do the computer compiling and editing that Matt and Jason did last
year.
