Boston HP 2010

Hello,

Just wanted to get the ball rolling, was wondering if anyone would want to do a HP in Boston this year? Dec 4 is coming up really quick (though obviously we wouldn't have to do it exactly on that day), so I'm not sure if there was anything being planned right now. It'd be great if someone with experience in this could start something; if not, I'd be happy to jumpstart or whatnot.

Maybe to get started, what area/region of Boston are most of us here from? I hail from the CommAve/Fenway area.

I'm actually from Worcester County technically but I work in Watertown.

Hi - I can help out but haven't done one before. I'm from the 495 belt but can get into Boston on the weekend. If we pull something together I might be able to recruit some others to help out.

I was involved with 2009's event at the Germaine Lawrence School and Group Home in Arlington MA on 12/12/09. It's a school for troubled adolescent girls ages 11-18 who, for multiple reasons, were placed here because they can not at this point be in a normal kid environment. They had 80 girls ready to be photographed and feel beautiful - it was an incredible event. I don't remember who our contact there was, but I know they would be thrilled to do it again. I was not an organizer, but if someone is interested in contacting them I'm sure they'd be happy to start the ball rolling for 12/4.

Either way, let me know what the plan is for 12/4. I am not available to help organize, but I will show up on 12/4 where ever you tell me to be, camera in hand and with backdrops, etc. as needed.

Jess' idea sounds awesome - do we know if any makeup artists or photographers with printers are available? Or would we get the prints done offsite and return to deliver them?
I'd be interested in helping photograph something like that.

Hi,

I'm actually a high-schooler from Lexington, and I would be very interested to join in as a photographer! Right now it seems like nothing is quite yet organized, however if anything comes up I would much like to be in the know.

Last year I participated in Help-Portrait by myself (rather than joining a group), and this year I am certainly eager to participate but this time in a group.

I just sent an email to Germaine Lawrence to try and get something organized for this year.
I'll keep the board posted if anything comes through.

Do any photographers here have portable/on-site printing capability?

I think I can borrow a printer that prints up to 8 x 10. i don't know how fast it prints

Still no word back from the school.
As it's now the 18th of November I'm going to say this isn't going to happen with them this year.
I was optimistic, but guess I just found out about this project a little too late in the game this year.
I will definitely keep this in mind for 2011 and be organizing a shoot of some sort for next year.

Is anything else going on anywhere else in the city? I'm game to come shoot somewhere with my lighting equipment. Just don't have printing capabilities.
