I have been getting quite a few emails about the day of the event that really have not been covered in detail, so I thought I would start this thread and add questions that I have received. Feel free to ask additional questions here and we will answer them as they come in.
Can I stay after my shift? Can I hang out all day? Can I come early? Can I be there all day?
Yes. Actually we encourage it, since there will be things that come up during the day that each site will need help with managing. Check with the site leader to see if there are specific areas where you can help.
Can I bring a friend/son/daughter/husband/wife?
Yes you can. Just let the site leader know if they can help during the day. If you are bringing a child that needs supervision and you are scheduled to volunteer, we do not have the capacity to watch unsupervised children. Please be mindful of this.
What if the person I am bringing is not a photographer? Do all volunteers need to be photographers? What if my guest is not technical?
It does not matter, there are plenty of non-photographic tasks to be done during the day.
Can I take behind the scenes photos?
Yes, but please do not take photos of the families, particularly the children without explicit permission from the families. Our advice is to avoid shooting the families and focus on the volunteers. We are very interested in having BTS photos of all the volunteers etc. If you have a video camera, that is great too, same advice applies.
Is there anything I need to bring with me on the 12th?
If you are shooting or have a camera, make sure you bring that and any lighting equipment. Other things we will need during the day are drinks, such as bottled water, snacks, candy (hint hint) and other things to share with the volunteers.
Have other questions, post them here.
