Permalink Reply by Micah G Robinson on October 26, 2011 at 2:11pm I thought it was... However I just looked at the "Donations" menu at the header and it states that Help-Portrait is "not a non-profit" so I'm not sure.
What you can do is "partner" with a local non-profit for tax reasons.
They could receive the items with the sole purpose of donating/using those items at the Help-Portrait event.
This can become a very sticky issue very quickly.
As you may know, people have egos and they can get in the way.
So if you do this make sure you have a COMPLETE understanding with the non-profit on this and I would get it clear in writing.
I run a 501c(3) so it was not a problem for the Nashville event.
We are "partnered" with Help-Portrait for tax reasons.

HP is a Not for Profit it states it is a 501c3 company and receipts for monetary donations are avail when donating online, I just didn't see anything for "in-kind" donations.

I misread it.
I do not know how to do in-kind with Help-Portrait.
Perhaps Kyle will chime in.
Permalink Reply by Melissa Cales on November 1, 2011 at 9:39am The leader for your location event needs to sign up at this link: https://help-portrait.donortools.com/ to be the point person for donations. They email a pdf with information regarding donations. You can get a receipt for in-kind donations.
The person/business making the donation needs to give you a receipt for the goods and that has to be submitted to HP. You can also email donations@help-portrait.com
