Event Description
Swaziland Weekend Away
Ubuntu Help-Portrait shoot for orphans and children at various orphanages, care centres and community venues in Swaziland.
This is the second-year our Exchange initiative and the development of a Help-Portrait chapter for Swaziland.
A group of Swazi photographers is willing to start a Help-Portrait group in Swaziland. Our visit is to share with them how we do it and encourage them to kick-start their group.
Portraits will be taken at local orphanages and homes for children and various community centres.
Summary of itinerary

- Wednesday 28 November: depart from Johannesburg by approximately 12h00 to arrive in Manzini +/-17h00. 19h00 Meet & Greet with local Swazi volunteers
- Thursday 29 November, Friday 30 November and Saturday 1 December: portrait sessions - 08h30 to 13h00. Afternoons free for social activities
- Saturday 1 December: social afternoon in Mlilwane Game Park
- Sunday 2 December: sight-seeing until departure at 13h00 for Johannesburg to arrive +/18h00
Accommodation: Free in family homes for the first 10 RSVPs. B&Bs available close by.
Costs: Breakfast and dinner free for all. Sharing in costs for fuel and toll fees. Personal expenses.
Notes:
- Volunteers may travel and arrive on Wednesday, Thursday or Friday and participate in one or more mornings of portrait shoots.
- Check that your passport is valid for travel for 3 months, from 28 November 2011 until 27 February 2013
