I am with you Stanley. Just had to make sure whether the event was on or not.

We can all still be trained :)

Blessings

Ok folks, listen up:

We are going to delay all the training until later in the year. Why?

  • because we want to leverage the training of volunteers so that this translates into them going out under the Free Portraits programme which will start in late August 2012;
  • last year we trained over 60 new volunteers and only a few of them followed that through into the shooting season. Although we will always offer free training, we may need to address the possible issue of "free riders" on the programme;
  • our toolkit is not ready to be rolled out. As our number of volunteers has grown, so has the task of guiding all of us under a common approach and principles. Now that the global Help-Portrait is promoting the posting of images [albeit with text messages] we are seriously considering a departure from that practice because we still like the principle of not posting images and it would put us at serious odds at what we have been emphasising for three years now;
  • we also wish to recommend Lightroom 4 as our tool of choice and there are some speed issues being reported on the global boards. We'd like this to settle first; and
  • all of you who are signed-up for this workshop are not newbies ;-) and are already dedicated and experienced volunteers. Is it still possible to train you? ;-))

Worry not: a detailed announcement on our programme for the year and news of some exciting developments will follow later this month, so be on the look out for that. Then we will have all the wheels rolling again ;-)

Okidoki, shout back if you have any questions and comments.
