About 94toGram [nahyn-tee foh-toh gram]
We are celebrating the 94th birthday of Nelson Mandela by compiling and promoting a digital photo collection of portraits with personal birthday messages for him.
The collection will be published online and made freely available for download on tata Madiba’s 94th birthday on Wednesday, 18 July 2012.
It’s a simple initiative and it’s open to all registered volunteers to participate. The blog post announcing this initiative is here!
To participate, you will need to
- Choose a portrait subject, complete the model release, take a photograph and ask your subject to write a birthday message for Nelson Mandela;
- Merge your photograph and the message into a single image;
- Upload your image [and a copy of your model release] for inclusion in the collection.

As you ready-up to upload your Message Portraits via DropBox, please double-check these guidelines as set out in the 94toGram DropBox Folder eMail invitation.
The folder includes samples of Message Portraits, the 94toGram announcement, a launch poster and the Model Release. Please accept the invitation and then follow the guidelines below when you are ready to upload your Message Portrait and Model Release.
If you are new to using DropBox, we recommend that you first review our general guideline here: http://www.ubuntuhelpportrait.org/2011/09/14/dropbox-how-to-use-it-...
Specific Guidelines | Uploading a Portrait Message & Model Release- Please ensure that your Portrait Message meets these dimensions: jpeg@200dpi, landscape format and up to 40cm [3,150px] width and up to 25cm [1,969px] height;
- Please check that you have left some room at the bottom so that the Ubuntu Help-Portrait logo may be added by a Coordinator;
- Please check that you have a digital copy of the signed Model Release;
- Upload your Message Portrait to the "Message Portraits" folder;
- Upload your Model Release to the "Model Releases" folder;
- Please do not "move" or "delete" any files from the folders; and
- Uploaded files will be actively moved offline if they have been included in the collection. Do not be alarmed if you no longer see your files in the folders.
Please upload your Message Portrait and the Model Release by 15h00 on Sunday 15 July 2012.We're here to help, so shout back if you need to.
